Most Astrologers I have known believe in the symbolic life. We believe that life speaks to us in symbols, synchronicities, signs, numbers (which are symbols, too), music, art, nature and, most deeply, in a supreme force called God, Great Spirit, Allah, Elohim, Lord, Father, or Father/Mother who speak to us through these symbolic voices.
On January 8, 2008, we observed the first Capricorn new Moon of 2008. Today we celebrate the 13th new Moon of the year 2008, also in Capricorn. Although we have 12 Solar months to a year, we have 13 Lunar months in a year. Perhaps the ancient Lunar calendar could be the most symbolic and simple?
Since I think that all our lawmakers are gone from Washington, D.C., I've made this chart out for the center of the U.S. which is in the middle of a hog farm just south of Lebanon, KS. It always tickled my funnybone to hear that and I've shared it many times on this site. See: CENTER of U.S.. Hee!
Some ancient civilizations believed that the year began at the Winter Solstice when the Sun was, seemingly, born again on it's ecliptic travels to rise and set more Northerly. To observers at that Winter Solstice, the Sun looked as if it might set in the low Southwestern sky and never rise again. It must have been a fearful time to those not in the know.
All of the planets have passed the Galactic Center as of today. The dates are: Pluto: November 22, 2007; Jupiter: December 5, 2007; Mercury: December 19, 2007; Sun: December 20, 2007 Venus: January 20, 2008; Venus again: November 10, 2008; Mercury again: December 10, 2008; Sun again: December 19, 2008; Mars: December 23, 2008. Inbetween all those dates, the Moon would touch the Galactic Center each month. So, we could say that we've been bombarded for over a year with the vibrations of the Galactic Center. Here's what one astrologer says about that: GALACTIC CENTER.
Meanwhile, our Solar New Year begins during the Capricorn 13th Lunar month next Thursday.
