The crescent phase of the Moon begins at the semisquare of the Moon to the Sun and ends at the 90º square. A semisquare is 45º and is calculated by dividing the 360º circle by 8. We could say that it begins with resistance (45º) and ends with a fresh action (90º). If the crescent semisquare is the intention, the square is the action; then the sesquare (135º) is the reaction towards the action.
Today's Crescent phase is set up for Washington, D.C. The Aries new Moon chart looked like Saturn was flying a kite over the House of the President; this chart is exactly opposite with Saturn at the top and watering the plants (planets) at the bottom of the chart. Actually, I thought of that when I read Robert Wilkinson's article concerning the nozzle, Saturn:
Saturn is the key to success, since at this time it is the nozzle through which all the other planets express the collective energies. By making use of the virtues associated with Saturn, such as patience, organization, maturity, and clarity about boundaries, limits, duties, and responsibilities, we can navigate through these important weeks.
So, we have a 180º switch of positions in the three day period. The Aries new Moon chart had Cancer rising and the Moon conjunct the Sun, Mercury, and Venus in the 10th House. This crescent phase has the planet of HOPE, Jupiter, rising and it's in the third House of communication and early education. This chart has hopeful Sagittarius rising and the ruler, Jupiter, is conjunct Chiron and Neptune the two planets of healing and blessings. The hope and intention for this Lunar Period could now be stated thusly:
"The point of this New Moon in Aries is to direct the great pressure we feel for change right into healing ourselves, healing all the complexes and limitations that got us where we are now."
Barbara Hand Clow wrote the above words in her New Moon in Aries column this month, ASTROFLASH! So, our intention and hope this month is that we can heal ourselves; all of our complexes and limitations that got us where we are now. Amen, Barbara.
