Crescent Phase of GEMINI new Moon
Wed. May 27, 2009.                                                             Keywords:  Intentions, wishes, blueprints.
The crescent phase of the Moon begins at the semisquare of the Moon to the Sun and ends at the 90º
square.  A semisquare is 45º and is calculated by dividing the 360º circle by 8.  We could say that it
begins with resistance (45º) and ends with a fresh action (90º).  If the crescent semisquare is the
intention, the square is the action; then the sesquare (135º) is the reaction towards the action.

How do you figure the semisquare when it isn't apparent?  Below are the rules:

If the degree of the planet is lower than 15, add 15 to it and go up a quality. (The qualities are cardinal,
fixed, and mutable.)  The Sun in this chart is 6 degrees.  Add 15 to 6 and you get 21.  Go up a quality
from Gemini (mutable) and you get cardinal 21 degrees.  There is your semisquare.  The bonus is that all
21 degrees of cardinal count as either semisquare of 45 degrees or sesquadrate (sesquiquadrate) or
135 degrees.  So, look at Venus; she is in semisquare to the Sun also.  Anything at 21 degrees of
Capricorn or Libra would be
sesquadrate or 135 degrees to the Gemini Sun in this chart.

The other way of figuring would be by subtracting rather than adding.  If the degree is higher than 15
degrees, subtract 15 from it and go back a quality.  The Cancer Moon is 21 degrees.  15 from 21 leaves
6 and the quality behind cardinal is mutable.  The Gemini (mutable) Sun is 6 degrees.  Anything at 6
degrees of mutable is sesquare or sesquadrate the Cancer Moon. That would include Sagittarius, Virgo,
and Pisces.

Congress is on vacation this week, but I thought I would do the Crescent Moon chart for Washington
anyway.  It's too hard keeping up with their off and on times.  It was really interesting that President
Obama nominated Judge Sotomayor for the supreme court yesterday at the new Moon in Gemini.  His
timing seems perfect!  Surely she will be voted in. There may be a bit of resistance as that is all part of
this three day crescent phase, but I bet she will be accepted by the Sagittarius full Moon next week.
