The crescent phase of the Moon begins at the semisquare of the Moon to the Sun. A semisquare is 45
degrees and is calculated by dividing the 360 degree circle by 8. The number 8 signifies big business,
among other things, but in the Washington, D.C. chart for the crescent phase, the Moon is in the House of
daily work and service and the Sun is in the House of speculation.
The debate in the House of Representatives for or against the so-called bailout bill occurred during the last

Jupiter is valiantly trying to mediate the Saturn/Uranus opposition from the 8th house of "other's assets",
but as soon as he moves on in January, we're on our own; perhaps for the best. Jupiter does not do well
in Capricorn; the planet of plenty in the Sign of withholding.
Note that the part of fortune is exactly the same distance from the ascendant as the Moon is from the Sun.
