| Since the gibbous phase of the Moon is 135º from the new Moon at 0º and 45º from the first quarter phase at 90º, we look at this gibbous phase as a reaction from the action of the 90º square of the first quarter phase. The 45º, 90º, and 180º is built on the 8, 4, and 2 divisions of the 360º circle. The 135º division is by 2.666 or the addition of 45º and 90º. So, we could call the waxing gibbous phase a critical mass, a reaction to the intentions and actions, the best laid plans..., or Der mensch trakht un Gott lahkht - Man thinks (plans) and God laughs. This is the second Gibbous Moon in August 2009; the first was Aug.1st. We have Cardinal Signs on all four angles (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th Houses) and the Sun rising in the 12th House along with Pallas and Saturn in Virgo. On August 1st the gibbous Moon's chart had the galactic center on the ascendant; this chart has the Super Galactic Center as its rising Sign. See Phillip Sedgwick's ARTICLE . He always astounds me. Wonder what he means, "This early Libran cosmic vacuum cleaner remains insatiably hungry."? Even more ominous is the Cardinal Grand Cross on the angles; Mercury opposing Juno square Mars opposing Pluto. I do not mean to sound like a seer of doom, but we need awareness, adjustment, and/or editing real soon and we have, technically, no government in D.C. at this time. Who's feeding the cat? Ok, enough of that. How about, what is gibbous and how is it pronounced? gib·bous Pronunciation: \ˈji-bəs, ˈgi-\ Function: adjective Etymology: Middle English, from Late Latin gibbosus humpbacked, from Latin gibbus hump Date: 14th century 1 a : marked by convexity or swelling b : of the moon or a planet : seen with more than half but not all of the apparent disk illuminated 2 : having a hump : humpbacked How 'bout that? |
