HOMILY:  Thanksgiving

Today is the U. S. National Day of Thanksgiving.  Many of us have less to be thankful this year; some have
lost their employment, some their homes, some their way of life.  For those we send our prayers to God for
blessings.  But, for many of us, we are heartily grateful to be spared from the worry and upset that the
economy has caused.  Let us forgive those that we deem have caused this sorrow and pray for them that
their hearts may be softened by the Holy Spirit to share their prosperity with those in need.

After our prayer of gratefulness, it is necessary to cultivate the spirit of blamelessness or, at the very least,
forgiveness.  After the prayers of gratefulness and forgiveness, we praise and glorify Our Father, Holy
Spirit,  and our Brother, Eesa M'sheeka, who love and bless us daily.

More thoughts on Thanksgiving by ...Helen Rice Steiner:

"May the words of my mouth, and the meditations of my heart be acceptable
to You, Oh Lord, My Rock and Redeemer."
Psalms 19:14

Dearest Lord of my being,
Thank you for blessing me with all that I need
to be the best that I can be.
I am so grateful for your love, light, and peace.
May I always be aware of your presence
and may I love and honor you above all things.
I need you in my heart, in my soul,
and in my life now and forever.
Amen

Enter his gates with thanksgiving;
go into his courts with praise; *

THANK GOD FOR EVERYTHING ...
Helen Rice Steiner

Thank you God for everything,

The big things and the small,

For every good gift comes from God,

The giver of them all.

And all too often,

we accept without any thanks or praise

the gifts God sends as blessings

each day in many ways.

First, thank you for the little things

that often come our way,

The things we take for granted,

but don't mention when we pray.

Thank you for the miracles

we are much too blind to see,

and give us new awareness,

of our many gifts from thee.

And help us to remember,

that the key to life and living

is to make each prayer ... a prayer of thanks,

and every day ... THANKSGIVING.
Heavenly Father,
Words cannot express the gratefulness I feel in my heart for your blessings; my family, neighbors, church,
friends, and country.

Please forgive me for all my failings as I, too, forgive all those who have (in my eyes) failed me.  I bless them
and hold them blameless.

You are a glorious God and deserve all of my praise, honor, and thanksgiving.  I am so blessed. Amen
