I’ve been a registered Republican almost since the time that women were given the right to vote; well, I
was born only 17 years after that so it’s in the same century!
However, there have been times that I’ve voted Democratic during my lifetime of voting; Harry Truman,
JFK, and Barack Obama were my choices. I was a little too young to vote for Harry S. Truman, but I hid
my little, white, electric radio under my covers and listened to the vote count as long as I could stay awake
rooting for Harry.
Honesty was the most compelling virtue that stood behind my reason for preferring one person over
another. I was very impressed with George Washington and the cherry tree story in the first grade.
We have since found that one of my choices was not so honest, but he sure seemed so at the time, at
least politically.
Still, I have kept my Republican registry all these years and am not quite ready to give it up although I will
continue to vote for Barack Obama in the coming election. The reason I will vote in the Republican Primary
is that I want to back Newt Gingrich for the Republican nomination. He is the only one who seems truly
honest and smart enough to deserve my vote. Even a seven year old boy, Jack Taylor, knows this!!
Jack Taylor was a seven year old boy on Jay Leno’s show January 9, 2012 who decided by watching all
the candidates on a debate who was the best to win the primary and beat President Obama in the
election. I’ve tried everything, but I cannot get that video to play on my computer. I think they blocked it out
because it’s too honest or politically incorrect or who knows. To me, it’s against the first amendment of
free speech to black out that video. It’s priceless. If it’s my computer’s fault, well then, mea culpa and
forgive me all to pieces!
Anyway, I admire Newt Gingrich not because he’s been married three times, or cheated on his wife, or
made money from Freddie Frick Flack; I admire him because he comes right out and admits his
mistakes, mea culpa and nobody else’s, he confesses his sins and converts to Catholicism, repents, and
starts over. By God, that’s something to admire and strive towards for everyone. You know who you are!
And, I’m right along with you. God bless America!
